Through the wonderful world of Facebook I, Team Assistant Ginger, found out about a new concept in town: Park City Food Tours.
The idea is simple. Pay a fee to the very friendly Shirin and sample a few of the what the best of Main Street's restaurants have to offer. I attended the tour on February 5th.
Shirin met my husband and me at the top of Main Street promptly at 3:15 PM. Having lived in the area for over a decade I was skeptical. What could I possibly learn about Park City I didn't already know? What restaurants haven't I experienced? Unbeknownst to me I was in for a treat.
We started with a brief tour of the Treasure Mountain Inn (TMI Building). Fun fact: it was voted "Ugliest Building" on Park City's Main Street in the 1960s. We saw some photographs from Park City's beginnings. Horse drawn carriages were pictured struggling up a very muddy Main Street. Can you imagine? All this time I thought trudging through the snow was a challenge.
We then sampled some delicious Mexican mole dishes at the Blue Iguana and learned a little about each one. Everything I sampled was absolutely delicious though I stayed away from the spicy one (I'm a wimp).
We then continued down Main Street stopping at some beautiful art galleries where we learned a bit about some local artists. We also popped into the Park City Museum for a quick visit before being treated to a delicious forest mushroom saute at Bistro 412.
We continued down, visited another gallery, then went to one of Main Street's finest establishments, Zoom. Chef Ernesto treated us to a variety of dishes including grilled scallops, tender steak, goat cheese and greens, a beet salad, and a melt in your mouth spaghetti squash.
Were we through yet? Nope. Our next stop was personally one of my favorites. The Flying Sumo served up some unique treats I'll be sure to be back for. We sampled the Mars Attacks Roll (inside out lemon, crab and shrimp roll, topped with tuna avocado, wasabi mayo, shishito peppers, tobiko and eel sauce) and something that makes me hungry just thinking about, the Nacho.

We then enjoyed a luxurious hand treatment at Mountain Body. Two days later my hands were still silky smooth and hydrated which as you know is difficult to achieve in this climate!
We ended our evening at Atticus where we enjoyed some to die for sweets.
My husband and I then double-timed it back up Main Street to our car in an attempt to burn a few of the calories we had consumed. We were stuffed.
Whether you're just visiting, new in town, or have been here for 20 years I would highly recommend this experience. I learned a lot about Park City's history as well as the diverse local cuisine. To book your food tour now contact Shirin at Park City Food Tours.
